Artomatic Artists Worth a Million Dollars

Apparently, a dozen or so Artomatic artists have gotten this letter mailed to their home address:

The Reliable Source, The Washington Post’s inside-the-beltway gossip blog, reports that some of the recipients were flattered:

‘It was a very lovely gesture on somebody’s part,’ said [Jennifer] Beinhacker — who swears she was still charmed even after she learned that a lot of artists got the exact same letter…Artomatic board chairman George Koch thinks it’s all in the good spirit of the show, where ‘there’s no barrier between the artist and visitor.’

This letter isn’t the first in a tradition of breaking the barrier between artist and visitor.  As Kira reported in an earlier post, poet Brash has been leaving poems for visual artists at Artomatic for the last few years.

I got one. I thought it was a prank at first, then appreciated the gesture. I wonder how many they sent? 1,000 artists= $1,000+postage =one REALLY nice gesture!

I got one of those in the mail and felt like a kid in Christmas.
Such a beautiful idea so beautifully executed must be coming from a beautiful person.
    Great karma.
    Thank you, benefactor! :)
